How to make your own binaural beats!
Making your own binaural beats with this kit is pretty darn easy; all you need is:
- A DAW (Digital Audio Workstation such as: FL Studio, Ableton Live, Bitwig, Reason, Reaper, etc)
- A sampler (usually included in your DAW of choice)
(You can technically use Reaper or Audacity, although your results may vary)
Extract the archive (.zip / .rar) I've included and you should immediately see a bunch of files labeled either by hz or khz -- don't worry so much about those details, but pay attention to the tags I've appended to the end of them. These are the purported effects of listening to said frequencies from random sources on the internet, which likely have no scientific validity, they can still be fun to toy around with and shouldn't interfere with your ability to make killer binaural beat 'tapes' (bonus points for actually using cassette tapes for distribution!).
Once you have selected either Delta, Theta, Beta, Alpha or Gamma, load it up into your DAW's sampler. You should be able to loop or even latch the MIDI note so that it plays indefinitely (will include a video if this is a foreign concept to enough people), and likewise you should find a looping mechanism within the sampler so that the file does indeed play for as long as you want -- crossfading functions are important here so that you don't get clicks between each cycle.
Once you're able to stretch your MIDI clip for as long as you want on your DAW's timeline so that it plays indefinitely and without issues, repeat the process for one (or more!) of the noise frequencies to give it something slightly less-unnerving. This is also a great time to consider adding in your own field recordings, music (tune it to the frequency though!), or even your best hypnosis-tape voice-over.
After you've got some looping, oscillating textures going on and the binaural beat itself is still slightly audible, stretch the audio out on your DAW's timeline for 30-minutes to an hour, start the rendering process and then go make a cup of coffee or whatever it is you do. Once you come back, your binaural beat 'tape' should be ready to ship off to the next hippie guru. You've won at life.
More packs including pads and other musical elements are available at my bandcamp site that I listed above, if you're interested. You can also just make your own if you're into that, as a lot of people tend to enjoy that process. Have fun and let me know if you make anything cool :)
